But without any public oversight, consumers are understandingly skeptical when a business claims to operate along shared ideals, yet fails to prove it. In this modern Information Age, how can businesses best demonstrate their values to their customers?

Outside of the cannabis industry, Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental Sustainability, ESG Reporting, and Conscious Capitalism are more than just marketing terms. They are quantified, measured business practices that signal the emergence of a new, collaborative marketplace. Yet within the cannabis industry, there is no consumer oversight investigating corporate practices. Until now.
As cannabis goes mainstream, how can our community ensure the industry we're building is moving in an ethical direction, avoiding the common pitfalls and mistakes we've already learned as a society? Simple: by ensuring that all sides of the market have equal access to the information required to make informed purchasing decisions.
Consumers increasingly want to know what business owners are doing to manage their societal and environmental impacts. Businesses dedicating resources to these practices want to know that their efforts are being rewarded. Regulators and investors want to understand the full impacts of legalization on communities and the marketplace.
But without data, none of this is possible. The Kind Guide was created to collect and analyze these data, but we need your help!
Every invite you submit through The Kind Guide App is made public so that together we can leverage our collective voices until we receive a response from a company. Companies can participate anonymously if they choose, but we will aggregate their responses to help inform us what the industry looks like as a whole.
We do encourage companies to publicly share their responses via The Kind Guide Database, ensuring they see full return on their efforts once the cannabis community can easily identify which companies they want to support. The database will also connect like-minded partners for future collaborations that maximize social impacts.
But what if a company doesn't currently engage in these ethical business practices?
Well, we believe that any effort toward ethical business practices is worth mentioning, no matter how small. So every company that participates will earn some positive PR points and will be listed in the database, indicating they are on board with building a socially responsible industry.
After completing the 10-15 question survey, companies will have the opportunity to connect with free resources and experts in Corporate Social Responsibility who can help them develop actionable plans and programs. To help inspire greater participation, we will have a bi-annual raffle where companies can receive up to 10 hours of free consulting to achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility goals.
